Sometimes the moments that shift everything don’t come from a big plan. They come from a small idea that simply feels right.
A year ago, I decided to offer a free brand shoot for a small business. The idea was simple; I wanted to collaborate with a thoughtful brand and create something beautiful together. The shoot would take place at the incredible Spectrum Haus in Melbourne, a space I had been wanting to shoot in for a long time.
I absolutely loved the studio. The light, the colour, the textures. Everything about it felt creative and inspiring and the vision I had for my brand.

From the brands who entered, a small knitwear label focused on slow fashion stood out immediately. As They Kiss Consume produces beautifully handmade knitwear right here in Melbourne and their work is thoughtful, intentional and made to last. Exactly the kind of brand I’ve always admired, and exactly the kind of brand I would love to work with more.
So, we booked the shoot.
And from the moment we started, everything just clicked.
The shoot ran incredibly smoothly. Working with the brand, styling the pieces, directing the model and shaping the visual story, it felt natural in a way that a lot of my previous work hadn’t. It wasn’t just about capturing images; it was about building a visual world for a brand.

That day was a bit of a turning point for me.
Over the years, I’ve photographed a lot of different things.
Real estate.
Weddings.
Events.
Sport.
All sorts of random jobs that come with being a photographer.
And while each of those experiences taught me something valuable, none of them truly felt like the place I wanted to stay long-term.
But this shoot did.
Standing there in that studio, collaborating with creatives, working with models, and hearing a brand owner talk passionately about what they were building, I realised this was the work I wanted more of.

I want to work with brands who care about what they create.
I want to meet the people behind the businesses doing amazing things.
I want to help bring their vision to life through imagery that actually feels like their brand.
This shoot didn’t just produce beautiful photos; it shifted the direction of my work.
It reminded me that photography isn’t just about taking pictures. It’s about connection, creativity and storytelling.

And from that moment on, I knew I wanted to keep moving further into this space, creating thoughtful, elevated imagery for brands that are building something meaningful.
Sometimes it only takes one shoot to realise exactly where you’re meant to be headed.
