From an Environmental Career to Photographing Eco Brands

My love for the outdoors has always been at the centre of everything I do. That passion led me to complete a Diploma in Conservation and Land Management before continuing my studies at university, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science.

After graduating, I worked for a plant breeding company for three years before moving into a role as a Landcare Facilitator for a local Landcare group. The work mainly involved collaborating with landholders, mostly farmers, to improve their land through revegetation and tree planting. Each year our group planted around 35,000–40,000 trees, which is something I’m incredibly proud to be part of.

One day while working in that role, I was looking through event details for a local farm event and noticed the photos they had used. They were beautiful, the landscape, the light, the way the farm was captured. I immediately went down a rabbit hole to find out who the photographer was.

She turned out to be a local photographer and quite famous! Working with national brands and flying all around the world.

I remember thinking, surely I could take photos like that? If she could do it, why couldn’t I? I realised the only thing really holding me back was myself. I had always dabbled in photography but never thought it was actually a viable career option, a creative career just wasn’t ever mentioned throughout all my schooling and home life.

During COVID, I finally decided to upgrade my childhood camera. What followed were many days and nights spent learning and experimenting. In 2022, I honestly had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I’d loved photography since I was a kid.

Around that time I went on a road trip around Australia and spent hours photographing landscapes. That trip really lit the fire in me to pursue photography more seriously.

Over the next few years I photographed a bit of everything, weddings, real estate and events but something still didn’t feel quite right.

Then one morning it clicked.

I realised I just needed to be me.

I’ve always cared deeply about eco living, natural products and slow living. So why not combine the two?

Now I focus on photography for slow, conscious and eco-focused brands, and it’s incredibly exciting to already have shoots booked throughout 2026 with brands that align with these values.

The lesson: when you niche into something that genuinely reflects who you are, the path becomes clearer and the work that comes your way starts to align with the life you actually want to live.
